Oyster cakes are like a doughnut without a whole with crispier texture with oysters inside, usually with some minced pork and coriander as well. The whole cake is deep fried before serving.

Excellent oyster cake, do call and place orders 30 mins ahead to avoid waiting.

I always thought there was only one oyster cake stall, the one that Bourdain famously tried. Turns out there are now at least 4 that I know of, this one, is quite excellent!

I have heard of hour long waits here, my friend who came to buy was advised by the friendly lady boss: “if you buy 5 pieces, you Q an hour, if you buy 20, still Q an hour, might as well buy more!”; the result was that I got to try this delicious cake free, with free delivery! Beneficiary of wise words… me.

Crispy batter with a small layer of thin fluff, fluff just there to make this perfect. Within each cake were one shrimp, lots of minced meat, coriander, and a good sized oyster. The mince and coriander filled the cake, every bite would get some mince. I don’t like coriander but it was not over powering, just softened the oyster’s fishiness. The shrimp and oyster were always on the opposite sides of the cake. The mince, prawn and oyster delicious and generous such that you won’t pine for more, the portion is just nice.

This was a really good treat, or a light meal. Brilliant! Best eaten when fresh. And I think best in the business!

Oyster Cake

Jul 2021

Giant sized oyster cakes that’s crispy and full of yummy goodies inside. It is a meal by itself, after eating this double sized oyster cake, you only have room in your stomach for burps….

The cake was big, bigger than a mouse! The batter was soft but crispy on the outside, and filled with minced meat and 2 oyster inside. It is a tasty treat and good for lunch if you had a hearty breakfast like I did the day I tried it. The batter itself was sufficiently tasty, as well the mince and oysters, the coriander that comes with it was thankfully muffled in taste otherwise I would have a hard time slowly removing them since I’m not a fan.

Uncle was nice enough to make a fresh one for me once, without the coriander! Turned out it was slightly empty inside and he and Aunty were scratching their heads wondering why; everything was the same as a usual portion. He later figured out that the empty space would usually be filled with coriander! 🤣🤣 So if you ask for no coriander, you might feel "cheated" that it's not as filled as suggested....
