Soy milk and soy bean curd are the main items sold here. Always served with a spoonful, or 2, of syrup. Can ask for less or no syrup, I suppose you can ask more more too! Besides soy products, they often sell a black "herbish" drink called Chin Chow or grass jelly. It is more cool and refreshing, and sweetened by the aforementioned syrup.
I find that generally soy milk will have little difference amongst all the stalls, anyway, one gulp and it all goes down, satisfaction of a good soy milk doesn't really last... 😅 Comparisons would lie more on the bean curds on offer.
Soy bean curd would be like soy doufu, sweetened again by syrup. There are now 2 types of bean curd, the traditional type which is very much like doufu, and the pudding version which has recently come into the market in the last 10 years or so. Traditional types would need to be eaten within an hour or so or they would absorb moisture and harden, the pudding type lasts for days. Do check with owners for expiry.
Bean curd
May 2021
I was looking for dessert at Marine Terrace and decided to try this. As I approached and dithered slightly, the lady boss told me to try it, boasting that her children and grandchildren would only eat her tau huay (bean curd) and not anyone else’s.
Reminded me of a friend who used to boast that she would never eat anyone else’s spaghetti and lasagne except her mom’s. We always thought she was just being snooty. The thought changed when we were invited to their family’s annual x’mas party. Thereafter, we all wait, hope and pray to be invited every year, just for the spaghetti and lasagne!

The soya bean curd here was the real thing, not the custard type. It looked pretty good. Made by the aunty herself, so silky smooth it rolled into my mouth and I was tempted to roll it straight into the tummy. That would mean I wouldn’t be able to enjoy its taste and smoothness in my mouth, so no. The taste was indeed delicious. The syrup is diluted to a level that was perfect, not too sweet.
It was indeed a very good tau huay. This is now my go to place for bean curd, and I’d sometimes get cravings. I’m beginning to think that her children and grandchildren are like that friend of mine, probably boasting to their friends this moment....😎
And Freddy, I think he likes it too, made me shiver with his stare when I didn’t share with him…

One thing about these traditional soya bean, it has to be consumed within an hour or so. They gather moisture easily and hardens, lose it's original tenderness, so eat it fresh. This has become my favourite tau hueh, definitely the dessert to go with my last meal....

Bean Curd
Apr 2021
Originally started at Old Airport Road hawker centre, they moved over here some time back. The stall is looked after by Aunty Sally, who has been doing this for many years, they make the custard soy bean curd at the stall itself. The process is quite tedious work.
A variety of soy bean curd tastes are on offer, the fridge in front of the stall is colourful! There’s the original, with almond, milo, bandung, and mango.
I have seen them at Old Airport before, was never impressed by the multi coloured fridge, and I was a lover of Lao Ban soya bean then. This time I saw them at Golden Mile, mouth was itchy, tummy needed some topping up, I went for it. I may have missed something previously, the soya bean was actually good! A nice custard texture, full of well rounded flavour and bite to it, good stuff!

I always love the almond flavoured bean curd, and the ones here are excellent. The milo is pretty decent too, but I’d pass on the bandung, I’ve never been a fan of bandung so bandung fans might beg to differ.
Curious if I was the only one that thought this was good, I gave my sister and cousins, who were staying at quarantine hotels coming back from KL, a test. Just passed them food plus tau huey (bean curd), and silence. To my surprise, they both specifically mentioned the tau huey was good without prompt. Blind test passed with flying "colours"!
