Satay is pieces of meat skewered together by a 6-7inch wooden stick and grilled over charcoal. Marinated with local spices, it is not chilly spicy but fragrant and savoury. Always served with a bowl of complimentary peanut sauce, cut raw cucumbers and onions. Ketupat or rice wrapped in coconut palm leaves is optional purchase. Suits the taste buds of most cultures across the world, it has to be one of the more unforgettable food from this region, my favourite food since an age I can’t remember!
